Security Awareness Training is designed to teach our users the importance of protecting clients’ privacy and exercising caution when using HMIS. Security Awareness Training is required for all HMIS users.

Fundamentals Training is designed to teach you the basics of HMIS. The topics covered in this training are: Exploring the HMIS Website, HMIS Workspaces, How to Find a Client, How to Enter Services, and How to Enter Case Notes.

Principles of HMIS is required for all HMIS users who are responsible for enrolling and/or exiting clients into projects. This training provides an in depth overview of the HMIS Data Standards Manual, Chronic Homelessness, Focus Elements, Enrolling clients, Exiting clients, and Adding or Editing Assessments.
Note: HMIS Users will NOT be granted access to Enrollment Assessments until Principles of HMIS has been completed.

Report Training is designed for agency executives and administrative staff who will use system data for performance measurements, grant writing, and contractual reports.

New Users are individuals who will be granted HMIS access for the first time. Returning Users are individuals who previously had HMIS access. This training process must be completed in order to be granted HMIS access.
An authorized contact submits the HMIS Training Request for the New or Returning User.

The New or Returning User will receive our Welcome to the HMIS Community email, which contains the links to complete the online training listed below. Each user must view the videos in their entirety and score 80% or above on each quiz. We actively monitor the timing and score of each submitted training and quiz.
Once the New or Returning User has successfully completed the trainings and quizzes, the HMIS Training Coordinator will:
